Our class had read a story called "All The Year of Her Life" written by "Morley Callaghan." The story was about a young man called Alfred, who was trying to stole the small things out from the small store that he worked for. Unfortunately, He got catch by the store owner, Mr. Carr. He was suppose to call the police but he did not. He called Alfred's mother to come to see him in the store instead. When Mrs. Higgins which is Alfred's mother came to the store, she was smile and talk friendly to Mr.Carr. She asked him about the troubles that Alfred got and apologized him about it. She also thanked Mr.Carr for not call the police. After finish talking, Mrs.Higgins and Alfred went back to their house. Then, Alfred came to the kitchen and saw his mother who look old and seemed to be very sad and nervous. That is the first time he had ever really seen his mother.
During I read this story, I used three reading strategies to help me understand and remember the story better. First, I tried to picture in my mind what happen in the story and it helps me to remember the story better. Second, I tried to guess and made prediction before I read. For example, I had predict that Alfred had stole something from the store so, Mr.Carr had asked him to take the things out of his pocket before he go. And lastly, I read slowly to make sure that I understand what I had just read.
After I read this story, I felt that everyone should love and taking care of his or her mother because our mother is a special person in our lives. Mother is the person who took care of you when you were young. She fed you and taught you to act in good ways. She is a woman who always help you when you got into trouble (even though she might felt scared to help you.) and also support you when you want to do anything.
